Special Giftings
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the
Spirit is given for the common good. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)
Some service opportunities at GracePointe require special gifts, skills, experience and talents. Alternatively, but equally as important, some areas of ministry can be served by church family members with willing hearts and open minds who simply don’t mind giving some good, old-fashioned elbow grease! Furthermore, people volunteer for a variety of reasons, such as personal significance, relationships and social bonding, and/or the opportunity use special skills. Some people serve the church community simply because they want to give back to an organization that is a meaningful and important part of their lives. Whatever your reason for serving and no matter what special skills may or may not be required, our home is filled with many different kinds of service opportunities on many different levels.
If you’re not sure what area of service would be the best fit for you, feel free to get involved in a variety of ministry experiences. As you explore the different ministry areas, you should soon discover what is important to you and if you are happy in or are gifted for a particular area of service.
- LOOK FOR those ministries in which you feel the most fulfilled. Is the work meaningful to you? Do you have a connection to the service area or project?
- LOOK FOR those ministries in which you seem to be the most effective and your abilities are affirmed. Do you feel emotionally energized after serving or working on the project?
- LOOK FOR those ministries in which you have a comfortable and enjoyable relationship dynamic. Are you getting to know people better and experiencing the joy of community?
- LOOK FOR those ministries in which the time commitment realistically aligns with the responsibilities of your daily life. Is your availability truly compatible with the service opportunity or project?
Envelop the whole process in prayer. The Lord will help you identify your fit if you allow Him to guide and direct you in all your endeavors.
